David Tutera wedding contest

As we all know, wedding planning can be super stressful and frustrating. Especially if you have 2 kids & a house to pay for (not to mention car payments & other bills to pay for).

My fiance and I have been engaged for almost two years. We are a completely unconventional couple. We started out backwards by becoming pregnant early in our relationship. We could have crashed and burned like 99% of other couples do, but we didnt. We grew together and fell in love more and more each day. We are definately 2 of the luckiest people on earth, to be able to say that we are so truly and madly in love with each other, even after 4 years and 2 kids.

He proposed to me a year and a half ago on Christmas day. He gave me the ring of my dreams. I just remember him walking up to me with my Christmas stocking, asking me why I hadn’t opened it. You see, I didn’t open it because I filled them the night before, & he was making fun of me for using stocking stuffers anyways (its not in his family tradition to use them).

We have had to put off our wedding for many reasons. Originally I was supposed to get married on February 18th  2012. That didnt happen for the following reasons.

When Brian first asked me to marry him, I was just barely pregnant. So we put off the wedding until that July. Our son was born on June 21st and he was the most beautiful newborn baby in the world. Unfortunately when he was born, he had an infection in his lungs and he was unable to breath. He was rushed to the NICU where he lived for the next month. I know that for the NICU that isn’t a long time. I was very lucky that he wasn’t in there longer, and I do consider myself blessed everyday for that. After he was finally released & were able to go home, we received  a phone call the very next day from my fiance’s brother Mark. His wife, who has been fighting stage 3 breast cancer was dying. She didn’t have much longer. We were supposed to go out and visit that weekend so they could meet the baby. I was devastated, for Mark, for Christine, and for my 3 beautiful nieces who were about to lose their precious Mommy. If felt like life was unfair. Our poor family could not catch a break. Christine died a few days later.

When all of this happened, we stopped wedding planning completely. It was just too much at the time and we didn’t know how we were going to do it. By October, things started turning around for us. We found a beautiful 5 bedroom home that we are in love with. Our children are beautiful and healthy. We really have no complaints, but with times like these Money is tight. That $200 worth of wedding swag would go SO far for us with our wedding its not even funny. So anyways, sorry about all of the long blog post before this (I was really just planning on blogging about the contest lol)
